Abbi Bosward Fielding MBA – Managing Director
Abbi is a Delivery Lead at the Australian Broadcasting Corporation. Her experience spans commercial media, government, and non-profit organisations, where she specialises in large-scale people and technology change initiatives. Abbi has completed her Master of Business Administration (Executive) at the Australian Graduate School of Management, graduating “with excellence” this year.
Abbi is renowned for her ability to drive high-performance teams and leadership in complex environments. She excels in fostering collaboration and ensuring that teams achieve their strategic goals. She has spent over a decade as a Scout and Guide Leader and twenty years as a dedicated volunteer with both organisations, demonstrating her commitment to community service and youth development.
Abbi is also a passionate advocate for Indigenous youth, working with the Australian Indigenous Mentoring Experience, SHINE for Kids, Corrective Services NSW, and CareerTrackers.
In addition to her professional accomplishments, Abbi has a background as a successful dancer and dance teacher. She has transitioned into an international-level powerlifter, proudly representing Australia at the Commonwealth Powerlifting Championships in New Zealand. Abbi will represent Australia again in South Africa at the Worlds Masters and Commonwealth Championships. She is dedicated to fostering a democratic federation that empowers athletes of all abilities to reach their full potential.
Nathan Everett
Nathan has held previous roles as a Non-Executive Board Director, as well as having had extensive experience in executive management roles including as Managing Director, Chief Operating Officer and Director of Sales and Marketing, across a variety of industries including manufacturing, machinery and retail.
Nathan is currently the Director and Founder of Immersive Insights, a company that provides strategic insights to businesses to help drive their success in the areas of operational excellence, reduction of inefficiencies, and profit improvement.
Nathan has been powerlifting for the past 8 years and is currently an active Member of Adonis Athletics in Penrith. He has competed on both Powerlifting and Weightlifting platforms and is eager to support the growth of Powerlifting in Australia through APA.
Outside of his professional career Nathan is an avid Baseball enthusiast following the US and Domestic competitions and volunteering as assistant coach for his son’s T Ball Team.
Nathan has a Master of Business & Technology, A Diploma of Business (Marketing) and a Diploma of Management. Nathan has also completed a Certificate IV in Fitness and is Level 1 Precision Nutrition Certified.
Tim Martin MBA, GAICD
Tim has previously served as a Non-Executive Board Director for the Coburg Football Club (Victorian Football League) as well as for End Homelessness SA. In these roles he brought his skills of corporate governance, strategic oversight, as well as policy development, to ensure the companies were set up for future growth and success.
Tim has extensive experience in the application of information technology to increase effectiveness and efficiency, and also has significant operational experience in one of Australia’s leading companies, BHP, where he uses his skills to drive strategic business improvements. He has also lived, studied and worked in several countries, including Sweden and China.
Tim has a passion for all sports including, in particular, powerlifting. He currently lives in regional Australia and due to his location’s remote nature, lifts in his home gym.
Tim holds multiple qualifications at both an undergraduate and masters level in Business and Business Information systems as well as a Masters of Business Administration (MBA). Tim is also a graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors (AICD) Company Directors Course.
Shaun Mitchell B.Bus (Comp) and MAICD
Shaun has been a senior executive for over 22 years and been a CEO for the past 14 years across a variety of industries. These roles have included private and public companies and, most recently, running a global software company supplying training solutions to more than a dozen defence forces. He has a strong background in technology, including Software Development, Artificial Intelligence and Cybersecurity.
Shaun also runs his own consulting business and mentors senior executives as well as provides advice to organisations on creating a strategic vision and delivering on their corporate objectives. Shaun’s passion is seeing organisations and individuals grow.
While not being an active powerlifting competitor, Shaun has lifted weights for 35 years. He has a particular passion for long-distance cycling and has completed nine ‘Around the Bay in a Day’ events of around 250km. Most of his cycling is now done on the comparative safety of a spin bike.
Shaun has a Bachelor of Business in computing and is a member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors (AICD).
Thao Pham
Thao has significant experience at a senior management level within Emco Holdings, an ASX listed company, where she was directly involved with all aspects of the company’s management, and worked at board level for over 10 years. Her experience includes roles as Chief Financial Officer, Chief Strategy Officer, General Counsel and Company Secretary.
Thao has extensive experience in solving strategic business challenges and has led complicated company mergers and acquisitions (including the simultaneous merger, recapitalisation, refinance of three companies together with an equity raising), international joint ventures and divestments in Australia, Canada and Chile, and refinancing in various debt markets (including Australia, Asia and the US).
Thao started chasing PBs over 10 years ago and has been a competitive powerlifter since 2019. Thao has proudly represented Australia in a number of IPF international events, including at Worlds and is keen to see powerlifting continue to grow in Australia. Prior to this, Thao spent a number of years on the netball courts and touch rugby field.
Cathy Talley GAICD
Cathy has held a variety of senior executive roles in management, marketing, and advertising in several Fortune 500 companies in both Australia and the US, including Merck & Co. Inc; Johnson & Johnson; WPP; as well as not for profit organisations including the Mayo Clinic in the USA where she was Director of Marketing. She has worked in both technical scientific roles spanning Chief Scientific Director in healthcare education (IntraMed, in both Australia and the USA), as well as Client Director for advertising and promotions with companies such as Pfizer; Amgen; Sanofi Synthelabo and GSK. Cathy’s sporting interests include equestrian activities and she has experience in working within pathways for athletes with disabilities in swimming and athletics. In her own business, Cathy works as Campaign Director for clients seeking election to Boards, or senior executive roles, as well as in not-for-profit businesses to support public health initiatives, and in promotions related to political campaigns. In her spare time, Cathy breeds and trains horses for equestrian disciplines. Her interest in powerlifting comes from being involved through her son’s participation.Cathy has a Bachelor of Applied Science and a Masters of Management.
Ian Wood, Director Finance, Audit and Risk
Ian is the managing director of Value Beyond, a Chartered Accountant, and has 25 years of experience in advising businesses on tax strategy, business planning and business management. Ian has a Bachelor of Business (Accounting) and a Bachelor of Laws from QUT. Beyond the accounting business, Ian has experience on boards of not for profits, as well as running multiple businesses in industries including retail and property development. Ian has been lifting weights for over 30 years , has competed in both bodybuilding and powerlifting, and has aspirations to represent Australia at the IPF World Classic Masters Powerlifting Championships.
